Groceries should be easy
FreshCart began with one frustrated shopping trip and a simple belief: getting good food to your table shouldn't take an afternoon. Today we deliver to 35,000 households — but the mission hasn't changed.
From one market stall to your doorstep
It started with a van, a cooler box, and a Saturday-morning farmers' market.
Our founders, Nina and Tom, were tired of supermarket trips that ate entire weekends — the queues, the parking, the bags that never quite fit in the boot. So they started taking orders from neighbours and delivering them in that van, with produce sourced directly from the farms around town.
Word spread. The van became two, then a small depot, then a proper warehouse with chilled aisles and a bakery counter. What hasn't changed is how we choose what goes on the shelves: if we wouldn't put it in our own basket, it doesn't ship.
Today FreshCart works with 240 local farms and partners, keeps prices the same as the shops on the high street, and still answers every email with a real human being.
Four values, every order
They're printed on our packing benches and our delivery vans — and we're held to them by the 12,400 reviews you've left us.
Freshness first
Produce is picked, packed and shipped within hours. If something's past its best, our shoppers swap it before it ever reaches your door.
Fair to farmers
We buy directly from 240 local growers at fair prices, so the people who grow your food get a proper share of every basket.
Less waste
Imperfect produce gets a second life in our "Odd Bunch" boxes, and surplus goes to community kitchens instead of landfill.
Your time matters
A 10-minute order, a 2-hour delivery window, and zero queuing. We built the service around the minutes we give back to you.
Honest prices
No surge pricing, no hidden fees, no "membership" games. The price you see is the price you pay — same as the high street.
Community first
Every month we donate a percentage of orders to local food banks, and our depots host open days for the neighbourhoods we serve.
The team behind the baskets
A small crew of food lovers, drivers and software tinkerers — plus a few hundred shoppers in our depots.
Nina Marlowe
Ex-market gardener who still insists on tasting every new product line.
Tom Ashford
Keeps the vans rolling and the cold chain cold. Owns the world's largest spreadsheet of delivery routes.
Priya Raman
Visits every partner farm twice a year — boots on, clipboard out, season's berries in hand.
Leo Fontaine
His team replies in minutes, not days — and the odd recipe tip sneaks in too.
